About Comtat Cycling
Comtat Cycling was established in 2009 by Adam Roberts. Adam wanted to offer the customer something different, something special, and to provide it in a more personal way. So we started out by selling our own brand, Comtat bikes, but soon began specialising in made-to-measure, prestige Italian brands. Our one-to-one, personal service has led to us now being viewed as one of the UK’s leading bespoke bike retailers.
‘Bespoke’ at Comtat really does mean bespoke and every aspect of the process is considered; resulting in the best bike available for each individual customer.
Comtat, the name, was born following a fabulous 2 week cycling holiday in Provence. We stayed on the outskirts of Serignan Du Comtat. Using this as a base from which to cycle up and around the iconic Mont Ventoux.
The correct pronunciation is ‘Com ta’ but don’t worry we’re not French so however you say it fine by us. We fell in love with Serignan Du Comtat and the surrounding area, so thought, why not name our bikes and business after this beautiful part of the world.
Is to create and sell the finest handmade bikes that stand out from the crowd and that fit perfectly, one by one.
The bikes we sell
Are the opposite of mass production.
We want the best craftsmanship and the best materials as well as options for made-to-measure. Above all we want our bikes to be built with passion. Ticking all these boxes while maintaining our reputation for great value for money can be a difficult task sometimes, but we have maintained it and it is central to all that we do.
For example, we don’t just want to know which factory is building our bikes but want to be on first name terms with the frame builders, the painters etc. You benefit from the result of this hard work and we will happily talk to you about why we think we are offering some of the best road bikes on the market and from some of the most respected brands, including; Casati, Tommasini and Sarto.
How to order a bike or frame
While we can deal with customers remotely, we like to do things properly and so a one-to-one appointment is preferred. This way we can spend all the necessary time getting the details of your dream bike right. We are based between Southampton and Portsmouth and are open for appointments 7 days a week.
Are the sizing and fitting included in the price of a frame and bike?
Yes, this is the most important aspect and with all custom made frames the sizing/geometry drawings are included in the price.
Can I order a bespoke frame over the internet?
No, we’re afraid not. An important purchase like this requires some care and attention to get it right.
Can I just turn up?
If you are passing you can pop in yes, but it’s advisable to make an appointment or phone in advance, so we can ensure we’re available and so we can make sure we have enough time to discuss your needs.
I just want to order something from your website, how do I do this?
